Manfred's Great Trouble

Written and illustrated fold-out book by yours truly. Manfred is an arrogant guy. When he grows into a giant with every burst of ego, he learns that it is awfully lonely up in the sky. His best friend Lacey makes a hot air balloon out of sweaters and flies up to her giant friend to show him that feeling great doesn't necessarily mean being great in size.

Manfred's Trouble with Being Great

A sneak peak into my book on which I am currently working. It is written and illustrated by moi, about Manfred who grows every time he has a moment of ego. He eventually is a giant but quickly gets lonely up in the clouds. The book is an exciting interactive book with fold-outs. Hooray!

Monster Masquerade

Happy Halloween! Come see this in the SOI Monster Masquerade Exhibition in the Savannah Mall.

Can You Feeeeel the Love?

Some sketches from this quarter.

Sideburns Story

Design work for a short animation I will one day see to realization. Firenze thinks beautiful flowing sideburns will bring him happiness, but when the long facial adornments take on personalities of their own, they bring him only trouble. His pursuit of the beautiful, curvy, albeit self-centered, Soofie, is severely compromised by the sideburns' energetic liveliness.

Real Estate Board Game

Board game for an Annapolis-based magazine about the challenges of getting a house.

Thursday, April 23, 2009

Character design of Firenze- the sad, unaccomplished character who thinks growing long, flowing sideburns will make him happy. Unfortunately, these sideburns take on a life (or two, rather) of their own, and exceedingly hinder Firenze's life.

He pursues Soofie, who lives in this lustfully dotted home.

Wizard of Oz

Group project by our dear Cartel & Sons team, redesigning the Wizard of Oz, Aztec inspired. I designed the Burlap-sack Scarecrow, brainless and 2x4-legged.

And the lineup! Artists Brendan Regulinski's heartless Conquistador, Tran Nguyen's Cowardly Panther, Collective Dorothy, My Mindless Scarecrow, and Sarah Schmidt's Wingless Flying Monkey, respectively.

Chenoo Munny

My Munny - check out - as a Chenoo. The story of the Chenoo is a Native American legend about a man-eating beast who lives in the woods. One day a girl and her man go into the woods to camp out. When Mr. Man goes away to chop firewood, the Chenoo arrives to eat Lady. Lady, thinking fast, runs up to Chenoo, hugs him and proclaims, "Father! You've returned for me! I love you!!" The Chenoo, caught off-guard by her love, lives til his dying day with the couple who play love for fear he'll eat them.

Let's Go Fishing!

A pastel piece drawn from a spontaneous sketch I drew on my flight to Rio last November. People like fish, too. We'd just rather not work to receive.

Hi Mom!

My Nothing-But-Business Cards!

Collage assignment. I decided to do a portrait of myself as a totem pole on a bicycle with eager bunnies chasing me. All pastel drawings and cut-paper.

Flamingo self-study (see finished below).

Very open assignment to complete a landscape in arbitrary color. I did it arbitrary, alright.

Audubon Annelise

We were assigned the task of creating a self-portrait within an existing 19th-century piece. Naturally, I chose to augment my ravishing good looks with the peckish body of a flamingo study, originally by the bird-killer, himself: Audubon. We also had to include some odject to modernize the piece ((trash, heyy)).

Richard Simmons

He's an old project. Richard Simmons composed entirely of spaghetti and hot glue, could hold at least 70 pounds of weight on his head (this was a structure project in 3D Design).

I completely forgot about my giant santa I drew this year on xmas eve. So... "Sorry this is coming to you late, I got tangled up in holiday cheer (beard)!" Merry February.

Tromp L'oeil

We were supposed to make a tromp l'oeil in drawing 3. So I decided to make the assignment a little more flavorful. Add cyclops!
